| Pictured is a bronze statue of Saint Francis of Assisi in Forest Park near the Jewel Box in Saint Louis, Missouri. His arms are raised as if preaching to the birds that perch on and around him. Born into a prosperous Italian family in 1181, he renounced his wealth to live a life of poverty and prayer. The sculptor was Carl C. Mose and it was presented to the City of Saint Louis in 1962 by Alice Martin Turner in memory of her husband Harry Turner. |
