| Crater Ditch flows from the base of Broken Top, a dormant stratovolcano 20 miles west of Bend, Oregon. in the High Cascades mountain range. The irrigation canal was dug in the early 1900s to feed water to ranches on the east side of the Cascades. Its banks are now used as a scenic wilderness hiking trail accessible only by a rugged forest road. |
