| This coppice has approximately 200 of the oldest Oak trees in England. Some are known to be a thousand years old. Most of the Oak trees of this age were felled for Naval shipbuilding in the 16th to 18th centuries. The woodland was the inspiration for Tolkien's Fangorn Forest in The Lord of The Rings. |
