Flame-of-the-forest (Butea monosperma), also known as dhak, palash and bastard teak, is a species under the family Fabaceae or Leguminosae. It is a slow-growing small-sized dry-season deciduous tree. Its flowers are bright orange-red. Native to tropical and sub-tropical parts of the Indian Subcontinent and Southeast Asia, it found across India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia and western Indonesia.
