| The harbour was once a busy port handling cargo of coal and grain for a malt house one of the biggest in England until trade declined in the 1800s. A fishing industry still thrives. The original staithe at Brancaster was built in 1750 but gradually deteriorated over the centuries. In 2007 funding was granted for a new staithe as we see here. Taken on a stormy day early March. |
