A panoramic overhead view of Hoover Dam, located on the border between the U.S. states of Nevada and Arizona. Located in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River, the dam was constructed between 1931 and 1936. Located near Boulder City, Nevada, it was briefly renamed the Boulder Dam by the Roosevelt Administration after it was completed, but Congress later restored the name to Hoover Dam. Its hydroelectric plant is one of the largest in the United States, supplying power to Nevada, Arizona, and California.
