Limestone rock. Mainly composed of calcium carbonate, mainly in the form of calcite. They are formed from loose limestone sediment, which undergoes litigation as a result of various processes. Limestone rocks contain, in addition to calcite and magnesium calcite, also significant amounts of aragonite. Over time, these minerals turn into calcite with a low magnesium content. Fine admixtures can form: dolomite, quartz, clay minerals, mica, epidote and others. The main components of limestone: -basic mass made of micrite or sparite - granular components (skeletal elements of organisms, ooids, -ncoids, intraklasts, lumps and lumps) - calcareous remains of organisms (bioclasts) - various types of binder -other admixtures. Their content may be negligible (by weight), but may be essential for the color of the rock (most often the oxides, iron (III) hydroxide and other iron compounds, e.g. goethite, stain the limestone pink, red or rusty).
