This entrance gateway from market square leads to the Bishops Palace, Grade I listed, built around 1450 by Bishop Thomas Beckington, it is three storey building of Doulting ashlar stone with a copper roof. It was originally used as residences for the clergy. It has appeared in the film Hot Fuzz and was drawn by J. M. W. Turner
