The Pygmy Three-toed Sloth is a small and endangered species of sloth found only on the Isla Escudo de Veraguas island off the coast of Panama. They have short brown fur, a rounded head, and three clawed toes on each foot. Pygmy Three-toed Sloths are arboreal and spend most of their lives in trees, where they move slowly and deliberately, feeding on leaves and fruit. They have a very limited range and are threatened by habitat loss, illegal hunting, and climate change. Conservation efforts are underway to protect their island habitat and prevent further declines in their population.
