| This is my first encounter with this type of insect. This is the hummingbird clearwing hawkmoth. At first glance they could be confused with a large bee or hornet, but when looking closer you see they are different. This rare to see insect is carefully flying from flower to flower helping to pollinate everything she can. In this picture she is hovering beside a bee balm plant. This picture was taken in the East Coventry nature preserve outside of Pottstown in Pennsylvania. |
