Pictured is a closeup view of the base of a Battlefield Cross statue titled `Doughboys`. The base honors Matt W. Chism and Herman B. Landers who were killed in action in 1918. Landers was the first Ennis service member to lose his life in World War I. The statue is part of a monument for soldiers who died in World War I in the Veteran`s Memorial Park in Ennis, Texas. Ennis Veterans Memorial Park was dedicated to those who gave up their lives to protect the freedoms we all enjoy. The Memorial Monument Honors veterans from each 20th and 21st Century United States Military Conflict.
