| The hot water springs in Pamukkale (Turkish for cotton castle), is a unique natural site and tourist attraction in the Denizli Province, an Inner Aegean region in southwestern Turkey. Together with the nearby Roman city of Hierapolis, Pamukkale was recognized by Unesco as a World Heritage Site in 1988. The terraced pool are formed by the carbonate minerals left by the flowing water. Photo taken in September 2011. |
