The Papal Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi is the mother church of the Roman Catholic Order of Friars Minorââ¬âcommonly known as the Franciscan Orderââ¬âin Assisi, Italy. The Basilica was designed on two levels, each of which is consecrated as a church. The Upper Church has a facade of white-washed brick and a single large doorway in the Gothic style, an ornate rose window in which most of the decorative details are Romanesque in style. |
