Photographic reproduction from THE BOOK OF THE COURTIER BY COUNT BALDESAR CASTIGLIONE 1902 edition translated by Leonard Eckstein Opdycke. This image is a reproduction of Raphael's iconic "Portrait of Baldassare Castiglione," painted in 1516 and housed in the Louvre. The original painting boasts a rich provenance, once belonging to Charles I of England, later acquired by a Dutch collector and copied by Rubens, before becoming the property of Cardinal Mazarin and eventually Louis XIV of France.
