Wat Chetuphon is the highlight of the southern sector in Sukhothai Historical Park. Unique features include a tall mondop image hall that once housed four Buddha statues facing the cardinal directions, in the following postures: walking on the east, reclining on the south, standing on the west & seated on the north. The seated & reclining images have been very badly damaged & are almost unrecognizable. The temple also made extensive use of slate as a building material as seen in the stone `fencing` surround the site.
