| The Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy SOFIA is an 80/20 joint project of NASA and the German Aerospace Agency. This airborne observatory consists of an extensively modified Boeing 747SP aircraft carrying a 2.7-meter reflecting telescope. It is used to study astrochemistry, star formation, the Interstellar Medium, and exoplanets. |
