| Wistman`s Woof is one of the last vestiges of ancient forest in England. It lies in a valley high on Dartmoor. The floor of the woodland is covered in granite boulders. These in turn are covered in mosses, liverworts and lichens as are the trees. The landscape reminds visitors of `Lord of the Rings` - a kind of mystical place where fairies might dwell. There are adders in the rocks, so take care. |
