| Pictured is a dorsal wings open view of a male Asian swallowtail perched on a leaf in the butterfly garden of the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens in Fort Worth, Texas. The binomial name is Papilio lowi. It may also be called the Great Yellow Mormon. Males are characterized by bluish black dorsal wing surface with faint white striping on the hindwing. Both males and females have tails. The abdomen of the female is mainly pale yellow as is the dorsal forewing surface. The species is endemic to Southeast Asia. |
