Chhath Puja is an ancient Hindu folk festival native to the Indian states of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand as well as Nepal. Lasting for 4 days, prayers are dedicated to the solar deity, Surya, to show gratitude for bestowing the bounties of life on earth. Chhathi Maiya, the sixth form of Prakriti and Surya's sister is also worshipped during the festival. |
