Anping Castle, formerly known as Zeelandia City translated from Taiwanese to Dutch: Dutch: Zeelandia; Taiwanese: Jia̍t-lân-jia-siânn, Orange City Dutch: Orange, Wangcheng Taiwanese: Ông-siânn[1][2], Anping City or Taiwan City, is a fortress that once existed in Tainan City, Taiwan. Originally built in 1624, it is the earliest fortress building in Taiwan. Since the city was built, it has been the center of the Dutch rule of Taiwan and the residence of the rulers of the Zheng Dynasty. Anping Castle has been designated as two national monuments: `Remains of Taiwan City Remains of Anping Castle` and `Remains of the City Wall of Relanja City and the Remains of Buildings in the City`. In fact, most of the two relics overlap. The observation tower was built in 1975 by the observation tower during the Japanese occupation period[3]. In addition, there are the Anping Castle Historical Relics Memorial Hall and the Geranja City Museum, which are listed as cultural assets.
