Pictured is a female-headed sphinx on the Avenue of Sphinxes between the Karnak Temple complex and Luxor Temple in Egypt. The Luxor Temple was built in 1400 BCE on the east bank of the Nile River in the ancient city of Thebes, which is now Luxor. Nectanebo I provided the last construction of this avenue from the Temple of Mut at Karnak to the Luxor Temple.
