BLACK STONE HOUSE is located in the Kangyuan Park of Sun Yat sen University, and is one of the oldest buildings of Sun Yat sen University. It was originally built during the Lingnan University period. The combination of Chinese and Western styles, simple yet elegant, is an outstanding representative of the combination of Lingnan style and Western architectural art.The Blackstone House was funded by Mrs. Isabelle Braxton of Chicago to build a residence for Dr. Chung Wing kwong (the first Chinese president of Lingnan University), who had served as the provost of Lingnan School and the president of Lingnan University. Construction began in 1914. To commemorate the donors, they later referred to it as the 'Black Stone House'.
