| Massive, bunker-like Htukkhanthein temple was built in 1571 in Mrauk U, the capital of ancient Mrauk U kingdom. The interior features spiralling cloisters lined with images of buddhas and ordinary people sporting all of Mrauk Us 64 traditional hairstyles. The passageway nearly encircles the centre three times before reaching the sun-drenched buddha image. |
