This is an Anartia jatrophae especies butterfly, from Nymphalidae family. Common name: the white peacock butterfly. Observed near Petén Itzá lake banks not far from Mayan Biosphere Reserve, Petén department, Guatemala. We can perfectly appreciate the color pattern distribution and the characteristic three black circular spots on each wing. Population and distribution can be affected by climate change in the future. |
