Karola Glacier is located at the junction of Langkazi County and Gyantse County in Tibet, about 71 kilometers away from Gyantse County. It is one of the three major continental glaciers in Tibet and the eastern source of the Nianchu River. The front of the ice tongue is 5560 meters above sea level, and the Kalu Peak, 6647 meters south of the mountain pass, is the watershed between the Nianchu River and the Yamdrok Lake, where the snow-capped mountains are towering and the surrounding glaciers are prominent.nnThe huge glacier stretches from the top of the mountain to the side of the road only a few hundred meters away from the highway. The Karola Glacier is backed by the southern slope of Naiqin Kangsang Peak 7191 meters, one of the four highest peaks in Tibet. The east ice tongue is 3 kilometers long, 750 meters wide, and the end of the ice tongue is 5233 meters high; the west ice tongue is 4.5 kilometers long, 1.5 kilometers wide, and the end of the ice tongue is 5145 meters high. The entire glacier area is 9.4 square kilometers. With the intensification of the greenhouse effect, the snow line of the Carrolla Glacier moves up a large distance every year.
