A lifeboat from the Celebrity cruise ship Century and another from the Royal Caribbean cruise ship Radiance of the Seas are being used as a tender boats to shuttle passengers off the ship to shore so that they can explore the Icy Strait Point old historic cannery and cruise ship visitors center near Hoonah, Alaska on Chichagof Island. Tender boats are used all over the world by cruise ships when they visit ports where they cannot dock and must instead anchor off shore. Icy Strait Point itself is owned by local native Tlingit tribe members, and Hoonah is the largest Tlingit community in the Pacific Northwest.
