The Mariinsky Palace is one of the palaces in St. Petersburg, an important part of the Isaac`s Square ensemble. Along with the Winter Palace and the Tauride Palace, it is one of the three `political` palaces of St. Petersburg, the center of the events of 1917 and 1991. Built in 1839 - 1844 according to the project of the architect A.I. Stakenschneider for the daughter of Nicholas I, Maria, who was married to the Duke of Leuchtenberg.
