The elephants are headed up the beach to the bush after their drink. Elephants drink around eleven gallons of water a day, and the herd visits this beach often, leaving it covered with dung. Elephants are herbivorous and will eat as much as 660 pounds of leaves, twigs, fruit, bark, grass and roots a day. The binomial name is Loxodonta africana. |
