View of the central nave of the abbey with blue sky and clouds. The Abbey of San Galgano is a monastic complex in Chiusdino (Siena), while the Hermitage of Montesiepi is a smaller place of worship on the nearby hill, built to house the sword of San Galgano stuck in the rock. The Hermitage was built over the hut where the saint spent the last year of his life and contains the legendary sword, while the roofless Abbey was built by Cistercian monks.
