| With much of downtown San Francisco laid to waste from the 1906 Earthquake and fire, many of the buildings along this little street are from 1907, like this one at 761 Commercial Street. What is definitely not new are the woman's businesses that went on here by the female residents. This brothel with the five dormer windows and iron mansard roof are the main, unique designs of this building, for this purpose. It is just the type of design from before electirfication to allow both light and air circulation. |
