8886 converted to KC-135R. With 376th AEW, 92nd ARW, landed at Manas
IAP, Kyrgistan Sep 26, 2006 and stopped at intersection of
active runway and a taxiway, its crew having apparently misunderstood
instructions from air traffic control and the crew`s response
was also misunderstood by the tower. KC-135R was then struck
by Tu-154M EX-85718 which had been cleared for takeoff. The
Tu-154M lost 6 feet from its right wingtip but was able to
complete its takeoff and return for an emergency landing. |
