| Not just random patterns, or inner-city versions of crop circles, these red brick circles are in fact the exact locations of San Francisco`s underground cisterns. Known properly as Auxiliary Water Supply System, there are about 175 of these AWSS scattered around the city. To be used in case of another, major, city-wide fire and all the water systems are down, each one of these tanks cn hold about 172,000 gallons of water. |
