Pictured is the entrance to a building commissioned by the powerful politican and wealthy banker Franco Lercari in 1571. It is located on Stada Nuevo in Genoa, Italy. It was purchased in 1845 by the Parodi family. The columns on either side of the portal are supported by two telamons by Taddeo Carlone. Their chopped off noses are noteworthy, recalling the horrible legend of Megollo Lercari who took revenge on his enemies by mutilating their noses and ears.
