The Palau de la Musica Catalana is an architectural jewel of Catalan Modernisme Art Nouveau, listed as World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1997. It was built between 1905 and 1908 by the modernist architect Lluis Domènech i Montaner as a home for the Orfeo Catala, a local choral society. The building is made around a central metal structure covered in glass, the hall can rely entirely on natural light to illuminate the concert hall during daytime hours. The stained-glass inverted dome ceiling, designed by Antoni Rigalt i Blanch, with dominating shades of blue and gold, represents a central large sun surrounded by softer shades of blue and white representing female busts.
