| Pictured is the side altar of the Duomo Cathedral in Lecce, Italy. It was first built in 1114, refurbished in 1230 and decorated in the Baroque style by Giuseppe Zimbolo in 1670. It features a painting of the assumption, the bodily taking up of the Virgin Mary into Heaven at the end of her earthly life. There are also statues of Mary, Joseph and the child. |
