Pictured is a public art mural displaying the town`s namesake, Colonel Sydney Sherman. The mural is painted on the side of Old Iron Post in historic downtown Sherman, Texas. Sherman was a key leader in the Texas Revolution and is most known for commanding troops at the Battle of San Jacinto. He is also credited with the rallying cry of “Remember the Alamo.” The city of Sherman was named after him when Texas became a state in 1846. No artist is identified.
