The former is a monument of great Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko created in 1961 by New York sculptor Andrew Daragan assisted by Winnipeg sculptor Roman Kowal. The latter - Bitter Memory of Childhood is a bronze monument by Ukrainian sculptor Petro Drozdovsky devoted to victims of the Holodomor Genocide of 1932-1933 in Ukraine.
