| Ãâ°vora is a Portuguese city, the largest in the Alentejo region and capital of the district of the same name. It is home to the second-oldest university only to that of Coimbra, having been founded in 1559. It has walls and dominated by a medieval cathedral that towers over the labyrinth of narrow streets of the old town.
