A view looking down on the courtyard of Scaplen's Court museum from the balcony of the upper floor. Such a large courtyard space indicates this was the residence of someone wealthy. The doorway with the wooden ramp leads to the kitchen area. The brickwork on the right of the door and the concrete to the left are repairs to storm damage from 1925. Although harder to spot there is a difference in the stone work to the left and right of the closed wooden door, the left is the older 15th century original building, the kitchens and the second floor were added mid 16th century. |
