| St. Peter`s Square, the center of the essence of all ages, can accommodate 500,000 people, located in the eastern part of the Vatican, known as the square of St. Peter`s Basilica, is the Holy See held a large religious activities. The construction of the square spent eleven years 1656 ~ 1667, by the world famous architect Bernini personally supervised the construction of the project. There are 4 columns in the area around a total of 284 Dorian column column, the top of the cylinder is 140 saints. The center was a huge cylinder 25.5 meters high, weighing 320 tons shipped from Egypt in 40 AD.Photo taken in April 2017. |
