The upper Tsaritsyn pond is considered the most beautiful in the cascade. Its area is about 10 hectares, the maximum depth is up to 2 meters; the pond is formed by damming the rivers Gorodni Gorodenki, Yazvenki and Cherepishki Cherepishenki. The Small Palace and the Opera house face it a ramp staircase that has not been preserved led from the Small Palace to the pond, and all the pavilions of the landscape Park are oriented towards it. Notable artificial Islands: they appeared, presumably, in the middle of the XVIII century for the needs of breeding waterfowl. |
