Aix-en-Provence is a university town in the Provence-Alpes-CÃÂ´te d`Azur region, in the South of France. This is where the painter Paul CÃÂ©zanne, a figure of post-Impressionism, was born. A promenade connects different important places in CÃÂ©zanne`s life, including the house where he grew up, the Jas de Bouffan, and his studio. Sainte-Victoire, a limestone mountain overlooking the city and its surrounding landscape, was the subject of many of his works.
