San Francisco`s Twin peaks is famous with locals and visitors alike, not for being the highest point in the city, that honour goes to Mt. Davidson. The completely treeless, wind swept peaks of Twin Peaks do offer an uninterrupted, panoramic view of the foggy city below, and well beyond. It can get so windy up there, even our mighty Common Raven can get blown about while flying, and the White crowned sparrow will take refuge with the red Franciscan chert rocks. In addition to the Sutro broadcast tower, there are a pair of emergency broadcast towers on the top, as well as an emergency water reservoir for the Fire Department. In addition to various grasses and some plants and smaller trees clinging to the sides of the lower portion of the hills, right in the very center of the south peak, affectionately called `Noe`, is a survey marker imbedded in stone. The north peak is `Eureka`.
