Trajan's Market, known in Latin as Mercatus Traiani and in Italian as Mercati di Traiano, is an extensive complex of ruins situated in Rome, Italy, along the Via dei Fori Imperiali, at the end opposite the Colosseum. The remaining edifices and constructions, which were built as a component of Trajan's Forum and are set against the excavated side of the Quirinal Hill, offer a vivid representation of life in the Roman metropolis and afford a view into the city's restoration efforts that continue to unveil new wonders and understandings of ancient Roman architecture.
