Actor Telly Savalas dutifully signs autographs on the campus of the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California in 1974. Savalas and his crew were on the campus to film a scene, supposedly in New York City, for his weekly detective television show, `Kojak.` The series aired on CBS from 1973-1978 during which time he won an Emmy and 2 Golden Globe Awards for protraying the lead, Detective Theo Kojak of the NYPD. Savalas, was born of Greek immigrants to America and had a length career in both film and television where he was known for his very low and resonant voice, his bald head, and his affinity for lollipops. He died on January 22, 1994 at the age of 72.
