Swamp, is a wetland area characterized by water-saturated soil and vegetation that thrives in a watery environment. Swamps usually have stagnant or slow-flowing water, and are often found in lowlands or close to bodies of water such as rivers and lakes. The vegetation in swamps usually consists of trees and bushes, such as mangrove trees, palm trees, and various types of water grass. Wetlands have important ecological roles, including as habitats for various wildlife species, carbon storage sites, and natural water filters.
