The beautiful Great Garden or Sunken Parterre at Hanbury Hall with the Long Gallery in the background.. This formal garden was designed in 1705 by the famous Royal Gardener George London. Unfortunately the garden was lost over time but was recreated to the original plans by the National Trust when they acquired the property in 1953. Hanbury Hall was built in the William and Mary style for Thomas Vernon in the early 1700s. This Hall is an excellent example of the English-Baroque design but with a more modest and restrained style.
