Sunflower cultivation in North Indian farmlands in the states of Punjab and Haryana, India. The flower and seeds are processed to make low cholestrol heart friendly, foodgrade oil by the food and pharmaceutical industry. Research is also being done to use it as an alternative bio fuel or additive in petroleum products.
