Livorno is a port city on the Ligurian Sea on the western coast of the Tuscany region, Italy. It is the capital of the Province of Livorno, considered to be the most modern among all the Tuscan cities, and is the third most-populous of the region, after Florence and Prato. Numerous villas were built during the 1930s on the avenue along the sea in Liberty style based on designs by Cioni. These added to the architectural richness of the city. The city and its port have continued as an important destination for travelers and tourists attracted to its historic buildings and setting. The port processes thousands of cruise-ship passengers of many cruise lines.
