It is a name given to the row of monumental Nabataean tombs carved in the southern cliff. The tombs that flank the Street of Facades are carved out of the rock high up on the cliffs like a row of doorways. There are more than 40 tombs and homes carved into the rock. Tourist walk on the streets with small giftshop stands by the side. Petra is also called the Rose City because of the colour of the sandstone.
